    Description

    Five (5) scarce early original vintage 30 page edition of JAZZ RECORD magazine.
    The Jazz Record, Voice of the Jazz Musician, edited by pianist Art Hodes from 1943-47. Hodes grew up in Chicago in the twenties, played with Wingy Manone, had a radio show, and became involved in the infamous "moldy fig vs. bebop wars" with jazz critics Leonard Feather and Barry Ulanov.
    Covers include, Joe Marsala-Joe Buskin, “Wild Bill” Davison, Fate Marable, Gene Krupa, and Baby Dodds.
    Great photos and articles of famous jazz musicians.
    Magazines measure 6 x 9 inches and are in very good condition with light cover wear. There are no missing or damaged pages and all the inside pages are clean and bright. There are no bookplates or underlining/highlighting of text or writing in the margins. Front and back cover of Dec.1945 issue were separated but have been repaired.
