Vintage Hand Made in Mexico Wood Cigarette Box w Brass and a Mosaic of Green Stones (Mexican or Central American Jade) with a Brass Aztec Calendar in the top Center
Stamp Imprinted on the Bottom: HECHO EN MEXICO
Size: approximately 5"w x 3.75"d x 1 3/8"h.
The box weighs approximately 15.8 ounces.
Vintage - exact age unknown - probably from the 1940s or earlier
Good Vintage Condition:  Please enlarge all of the pictures to see all of the details. The top brass Aztec calendar is bent inward around the 11:00 location. There is a diagonal crack in the top green stone mosaic emanating down approximately 1" just under the 9:00 location on the calendar. There is a purple spot on the middle far right side of the top (perhaps a small drop of nail polish). The top area of the green stones next to the 6:00 location, and the lift handle, has some type of white smear. As this was hand made, the mosaic green organic stone pieces are not laid smooth. The bottom shows stains on the brass, as does the lower left side of the inner lid. There are a few stains on the inside of the wood box - which is probably teak wood. There is no residual cigarette smell.
This box is beautiful enough for a gal's treasures, and handsome enough to hold a gentleman's watches and cuff links. The hand craftsmanship is quite remarkable. Set it on your coffee table or on your dresser.....wherever you like.
